An update on my 30 book TBR for 2024

Let me be first to say my intention wasn’t too wait until September to give an update on my 2024 TBR, but it has been a busy (and exciting) year with getting married, going on a 25 day honeymoon, and keeping up with house projects. But have no fear, I’ve definitely made time for reading. While I write this in mid-September, I’ve read over 55 books, 17 of the 30 from this TBR list
While I’ve read over 50 books, I’ve also DNF’ed probably a dozen, a few even on this list. Some I started and the season didn”t feel right so I plan to revisit later in the year or later in a different format i.e. Demon Copperhead, The Fox Wife, and Weyward
Here’s a breakdown of the 17 books I have read so far this year by star rating:

Happiness Falls – Angie Kim
The Great Alone – Kristin Hannah

A Great Country – Shilpi Somaya Gowda
Chain-Gang All-Stars – Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah
Kindred – Octavia E. Butler
Middle of the Night – Riley Sager
The Sentence – Louise Erdrich
She’s Not Sorry – Mary Kubica
Yellowface – R. F. Kuang

Funny Story – Emily Henry
The Fury – Alex Michaelides
I Have Some Questions for You – Rebecca Makkai
Interesting Facts About Space – Emily Austin
Murder Road – Simone St. James
None of This Is True – Lisa Jewell
One of Us Knows – Alyssa Cole
Not Rated – DNF
Island Witch – Amanda Jayatissa
I’m not certain I’ll have read all 30 of these books by the end of the year, but I’ll have definitely sampled them all. I’ve really become a ruthless DNF’er – there are too many good books in the world to force myself to read something because of an arbitrary list I made. Realistically, I’ll probably read 25 of these books in their entirety by the end of 2024
Until next time, Meryn
