On Monday, August 8th, we got the keys to our first home

Here’s what we’ve been up to the past 2 months in terms of purchases, renovations, and updates!

Kitchen

Purchased wooden bar/cabinet from Wayfair ($600), installed coat rack in front closet

Living Room

Painted the fireplace a matte white (previously glossy), installed 1 row of 3 can lights above the couch, purchased a new TV stand from Wayfair, and a 75 inch TV from Costco (on sale!)

Laundry Room

Purchased a new Maytag washer and dryer from Home Depot, installed a screen door pneumatic closure

Master Bedroom

Painted Sherwin Williams Acacia Haze, installed ceiling fan, installed curtains

Guest Bedroom

Honestly, it’s just a disaster of a room with excess furniture, boxes, and camping gear

Den

Purchased a corner desk with matching bookcase

Yard

Purchased a Makita electric lawn mower, Toledo Edison had our silver maple trimmed, bought 2 bird feeders, weeding around the brick patio, had the dead pines cut down to 10 feet, purchased mums and pumpkins from Hoen’s, planted about 60 tulip bulbs, repaired the fence gate

Future Projects

FALL

• Attic insulation
• Replace hot water tank
• Remove vanity in master bedroom
• Remove dying trees outside master bedroom
• Install living room shelves
• Install second row of living room can lights
• Rewire the garage outlets

WINTER

• Replace garage door
• Purchase guest bedroom bed frame and mattress
• Install living room display ledges
• Install folding closet doors in master bedroom
• Install curtains in living room

SPRING

• Replacement master bedroom east window
• Landscaping: plant tree(s), shrubs, hosta
• Front door renovation: door, windows, entry
• Consider replacing the fence
• Buy patio furniture
